The 104th birthday of late Dr. Rakesh Gupta, a prominent Hindi litterateur, the popular principal Of Nainital, was celebrated today evening. During this program the convener of the program Abhay Kumar Gupta son of late Dr Rakesh gupta and his wife Kapila Gupta welcomed all the guests.This event is organised every year to commemorate his birthday since 2001.

Late Dr. Rakesh Gupta scholarship was given to two meritorious students of Mohan Lal Sah Bal Vidya Mandir Nainital this year, Payal Joshi and Niharika Sah. In which scholarships and certificates of Rs 18300 were given to each.

The program was anchored by Mr Mohit Sanwal, a well known theatre artist and officer in Kumaon University, Nainital. The event was presided by Padam Shree Dr. Sekhar Pathak  and the Chief Guest was Prof . Laxman Singh Bisht  Batrohi ,Former HOD of Hindi Language Department DSB Campus Kumoun University. Other prominent persons attended the function included Mr Vinay Sah   , Chairman of Kurmanchal Bank and Secy of Mohan Lal Sah Bal Vidhya Mandir Nainital and his wife Mrs. Meeta Sah   , Mr. Rajiv Lochan Sah   , editor Nainital Samachar,Adv Mohan Pandey , Arun Kumar Shah , Mrs Anupama Sah , Principal Mohan L.al Sah Bal Vidhya Mandir , Nainital , Mrs Shalini Shah a well known film producer and director, Mr Jagdish Sah and his wife  Mrs Binita  Sah, Ms.  Vineet Vashist , a well known photographer.

Ms. Payal  Joshi and Ms.  Niharika  Sah the meritorious students of Mohan Lal Sah Bal Vidhya Mandir and their mothers.

Mr. Mohit Sanwal recited few lines from Ram Dhari Singh Dinkar , the then Rastriya Kavi based on Mahabhart .

The speakers who spoke on this occasion and gave  the instances of their association with Dr Rakesh Gupta included  Dr. Laxman Singh Bisht Batrohi,Padam Shree Dr.  Sekhar Pathak , Adv Mohan Pandey, Mr Rajiv Lochan Sah , Editor, Nainital Samachar,Mr. Vinay Sah of Kurmanchal Bank and MLSBVM .

All the speakers in their speeches praised the helpful nature of Dr Rakesh Gupta always encouraged and guided his students whatever way it was possible ,  an upright person who would not tolerate any injustice .

MLSBVM , Nainital was  represented in the event by  Adv Mohan Pandey, Mrs Anupama Sah , Principal of MLSBVM , Mrs Meeta Sah and Mr Vinay Sah ,  sponsered by Mr. Abhay Kumar Gupta .

It is to be noted here that Dr Rakesh Gupta had long association with the town of Nainital .He came to Nainital in the year 1968 on transfer from Gyanpur Government College of Eastern Uttar Pradesh as HOD of Hindi Department in  DSB Government College , Nainital then in November 1971 he became Principal of this college , where he served as Principal till August , 1977 then transferred to Ranikhet Government College and finally retired from serve in June 1978.
