Brigadier Ajai Singh Negi of Garhwal Rifles , Resident of Alma Cottage Nainital, Uttrakhand was   awarded President's Visisth Seva Medal on  Republic Day 2022.Now This is the second time he got this Award .

The award ' Bar to VSM '  for which he was awarded to him during Republic Day 2022 was received by him at Army Day Investiture Ceremony 2023 at Bengaluru from Gen A K Singh, GOC in C, Southern Command on 15th January , 2023.

His never give- up attitude and blessings and making him a WARRIOR.

Brigadier Ajay Singh Negi is basically a resident of Nainital district.  His childhood was spent in Nainital, the district headquarters, that's why he has a special attachment to this place.  Ajay Singh Negi was born on 8 February 1966 in a joint family, Ajay Singh Negi, a resident of Alma Cottage, Nainital, did his early education from Bhartiya Shaheed Sainik School, Nainital, in 1980 he did high school in the first class.  In 1982, he also got first position in Inter.
 Thereafter he did B.Sc from DSB Nainital. He qualified for IMA in 1985 through CDS exam.  Ajay Singh aspired to join the army from the beginning, he was an NCC cadet since school days and was a senior under officer in the National Cadet Corps. Ajay Singh was also a good sportsman, during his college days he played hockey, cricket, and football.  There was a lot of interest. He was also the hockey goalkeeper of Ajay Singh Academy in IMA.
 Ajay Singh's father Late Bhagwat Singh Negi was a mechanical instructor at Polotechnic, and mother Basanti Negi was a teacher at Snow View School, Nainital.  Ajay Singh's wife Meena Negi is a teacher at the Army School in Secunderabad.  They have two children Abhijay and Abhyudaya. Ajay Singh has three siblings Abhay Uday and Prithviraj (Ex CRPF now Security Manager Nainital Bank).
